Thank Nike Athletes for Standing Up to Discrimination

This week, Alysia Montaño, Kara Goucher, and more Nike athletes called out the company’s unfair practice of refusing to pay pregnant athletes.

In response, Nike announced that they will begin to explicitly address pregnancy in their contracts for female athletes. This is one step in the right direction, and we hope these kinds of standards become the norm across industries.

Change is only possible when leaders speak out. We applaud the athletes who refused to accept discrimination silently and sparked change.

Join us in saying "thank you" to Nike athletes who spoke out by adding your name to our letter now.

To the Nike athletes:

Thank you for speaking out about Nike’s unfair and discriminatory practice of withholding pay from pregnant athletes. No one should ever have to compromise her health and the health of her pregnancy — simply because her employer has put her paycheck at risk.

Nike has promoted an image of supporting strong female athletes. And today — because you stood up — Nike has taken a step to live up to its image and its values.

By standing up for your rights, you stood up for millions of women — and we thank you. We support your continued push for fair and equal treatment in the workplace, in sports and in every industry.
